Hello everyone! We just had our first serious winter storm for our area. So begins the clean-up! Yikes! The giant sunflowers finally succumbed to the wind, I had chicken proof cages all over and the wind picked up my garden table top and tossed it on my favorite Zinna! I also commenced collected all of the produce clinging to sad vines. There were many pecks of peppers, lots of tomatoes, some watermelon radishes, canery melons, and bell peppers to harvest today. I'd like to know how everyone else is doing with thier gardens? Still clinging to life? Way long gone? Winter garden up and growing?

Umm... garden killed off by first frost about 2 weeks ago. Carrots still hanging in there; leeks, too. Time to dig everything under and put in the garlic. Trying to decide if I should harvest the jerusalem artichoke now, or wait until the spring. Putting frittilaria in the orchard, and preparing to cut down the really old, no-longer-producing apples trees in order to replace them. I'm collecting seeds off the cosmos and marigolds and larkspur before hauling them out (they're dead, now), and raking up maple leaves to either use as winter mulch or put in the leaf pile to turn into yummy compost. Goodness knows, we have lots to share!
