I decided that a very large round water trough that was stitting out here on the farm rotting would make the perfect carrot bed for the winter! It had holes rotting through the bottom so we just put about 1 ft of concrete chucks in the bottom and filled in the gaps with gravel/dirt. Then my hubby dumped about a tractor load of horse manure in it. On top of that we added organic garden soil wixed with sand to make a nice fluffy soil for my carrots (and probably parsnips too, love 'em!). Now its time to plant it! Wish me luck! yum, yum, yum!
