Our watergarden/pond 3 Replies

My husband and I installed this pond. It started out a small triangle, then over the course of 3 years has grown. Ponding is addictive. I'm thinking of adding another stream.

Hi Folks,
Just joined, love water gardening, been in the business 30+ years. More in to educating so your informed when you stop by. I go to lots of fish education seminars and water quality seminars. We work a vet. We are growers of plants and water plants. Some of the comments we make might not be the ones you want to hear but they are honest ones.

We are going on vacation for the next 2 weeks so i will not be responding to anything for a couple weeks

Looking forward to helping. Also if you join our face book page my responds will be posted on our face book page.

Looking forward to help out.

Regarding algae in pond, Theresa, I found that a clump of barley straw put in an old (ex: onion bag) and weighted down in the pond really helps. My water is much clearer since I've been using it.

Ponding is not difficult to do. Some words of advice. Make sure you fully research and read about how to install them, and make sure you buy the proper supplies. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience here. We did our first pond with an old pool liner and black plastic. We had constant leaks from the rocks tearing the plastic etc. It was a total nightmare to take all of the rock from around the pond etc. to put a proper pond liner in. I've learned from my mistakes.

Michelle, Check on Aquascapes.com. They may have something like what you are looking for.

Hi Cindy. Have you searched online for putting in a stream? That is probably your best bet. Also Lowes and Menards have some good books about doing this type of project.

I've been looking online for small water troughs to add to my current flower beds - to add a water feature of sorts. I'm not having much luck finding them. Can anyone suggest where I can find small water troughs? Thank you!

My land has a natural slope that I'd like to put to use creating a stream type of water garden. I need some advice on getting started.
