If you cut it right down to the ground and then keep running over any new shoots with the lawnmower it will get rid of it. Also if you keep the area very wet it will kill it as bamboo does not like its feet to be waterlogged

Hi Allen
I wouldn't worry so much about upkeep time on a pond feature. After I got mine set up the only thing I really have to do is clean the filters about once every two to three weeks and add a little water from time to time. The key is barley straw ( you can buy straw allready in netted packages so all you have to do is drop them in the water) that really helps keep the water clear and keeps the algae under control. I only changed mine three times all summer
The enjoyment of it far outweigh the little bit of time for upkeep. Hope this helps

I discovered a small amount of moss, probably pseudotaxiphyllum, growing in the yard. I also have what I think is Funaria hygrometrica which turns a reddish orange when the spore cases ripen. (I don't guarantee that these identifications are correct . . . I'm trying to identify what I have based on Schenk's book, Moss Gardening, which has great color plates, but many of the mosses look alike at various life stages.) I also discoverd very sizeable pieces of moss in bags of composted cow manure that I purchased. I would pull them out and press them into bare soil in the shade and keep them watered. BUT it wasn't until these were covered with the landscape fabric that they really took off. I'll try to post more photos of the various mosses in the next few days.
