Canna Lilies

Do not give up on those Canna Lilies to soon. When planting canna lily tubers in the ground it can take a month or more for them to spout (depending on soil temperature and watering). Patiently wait…

Thats great. Here in Florida it is so hot we have to water just about everyday. My peppers are doing well too they just need alot of stakes for support. Glad you like growing peppers now, they are one of my staples in the garden.

Good day to start this, we are looking after our neighbors plants and missed one of the baskets. We will be re-hydrating it now and putting it in the shade for the day so that the plants have time to recover. Hate when it happens but it does happen.

Re-hydrating a hanging basket can be a real challenge especially this time of year. You pour water into the container and it all just runs right back out again. That is because the soil when it dies shrinks away from the sides of the container, when…

I take back every bad thing I ever said about growing peppers. My pepper plants this year are awesome. They started baring fruit early and have been producing a non-stop suply of nicely shaped, worm/caterpillar free tastey veggies. The best part is…

They almost look like coleus. My experience with the fancier leaf varieties is that that tend to be poorer bloomers. What has been you experience?

With out seeing the plants my guess would be an iron deficiency but it may also be a magnesium deficiency. I would recommend taking a cutting and/or photo into your local nursery for a proper diagnoses or send in a sample of your soil for analisis.…

These ones were rejects from the garden center cause they got over watered and then it got cold and they started to rot. They came home and were planted in the first week of May. It has taken them this long to recover.

'Tulips' Extending Their Display Time

Tulips are such a warm welcome to spring. Their vibrant colours make them a favourite of many gardeners; but how do you keep these beauties looking their best longer and extend their short growing season.

As most of us know tulips are a cool weather flower and as such they prefer cool damp springs to perform their best and to provide the longest flowering time. Once the weather gets hot the flowers quickly bloom and fade. While there is nothing you can do to

Ajax Backyard Makeover

This Ajax Home was treated to a backyard makeover prior to going on the market. It took only 3 days to go from drab to fab. Annual flowers are yet to be added as they come in season. For less than $2,000.00 this backyard is now a big sales feature for the home rather than a deterrent.

Thanks for adding me as a friend, I added you as well. *S*

About the hydrangea...I am not certain if my soil is acidic or not. If that is why my hydrangea is growing so well, even now its buds are healthy too, then it must be. *LOL* I have two rhodendrens too that are doing very well.

I chose these two flowering shrubs because I live on ten acres and there is not a flowering thing around me; even in my neighbor's yards.

I am just noticing your blog posts about soils....they appear intriguing...forcing me to cut this post short and start reading above. Sorry...but education is calling me. *LOL*
