Beautiful color!!
I've just started a meditation shade garden this summer and have no idea if any of the plants will survive the winter. I'll try to put up some photos today with a note or comment on the varieties i've used.... have a great gardening day!
Rachel: thx that suggestion! just what I needed to hear! I love hydrangeas and have tried to get them to root in water and in soil with no luck. I'm thinking this is the perfect time of the year to try layering. again thank you!

- Profoundly grateful to be living in the Port Townsend WA after years on deserts. I love the rain, changes of season, and the challenge of gardening in the shade. Only my second year at gardening here. I have been experimenting with growing veggies - potatoes being the only success this year. I put in a little meditation shade garden this summer,, no idea if it will make it through the winter - more to learn!
This is my first attempt at 'social networking' other than Facebook. We'll see how it goes !?

- use coffee grounds around your hostas. the slugs will leave them alone and the earthworms will help the soil.
