This bright, sunny weather, in March is wonderful, but it sure does give one the itch to get into the garden. This is, of course, impossible, as it is still covered in snow and the ice is still on the lake. Still too early to start seeds but one can still plan and dream.

Here we are in July already. The veg. garden has all been weeded and planted, things seem to be doing o.k., no excess of bugs, except earwigs and they seem to be busy with the weeds I leave on the carpet strips between the raised beds. The peas are ready to be picked, the lettuce is perfect although the heat will make it bolt soon. I wondered how the broccoli and cabbage would do but some dill emerged among the plants and seems to have protected them from the bugs (so far so good). The flower garden is doing well, but I too have grass among the Iris and several perennials are competing for space under the trees. The red currant bushes are loaded, will feed a lot of birds even after I pick enough for jelly. Sure, it is a lot of work, but it gives so much pleasure, not only to me but to all who pass by.
